About Re-Souled

Re-Souled... by Bill Goodson
Though not a recovering alcoholic himself, Bill Goodson, psychiatrist, has found a key to his own spiritual recovery in the formula of Twelve-Step principles.

After managing to struggle through his own life crises, including career-crash and cancer, Dr. Goodson found himself wanting to share with others what had saved him.

Re-Souled was the result of that desire. He takes the dramatic recovery of one of his patients, Dale J., and places that story in tandem with his own life story. He does it in a way that demonstrates the commonalities in all of our lives' struggles to find ourselves.

"This is no ordinary book on addiction. It is the gripping, personal story of two men who found their way to wholeness and healing through a profoundly spiritual experience. For both - the one a psychiatrist, the other his patient, an FBI agent - it was the discovery of their own weakness and brokenness that made possible a renewed consciousness of the reality and power of God and the sustaining support of community."
-The Rev. Harold C. Skillrud, D.D., Bishop, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Southeastern Synod, Atlanta

"A valuable book for the recovering and professional communities... A genuine example of how AA can serve as a model of spiritual growth not just for the alcoholic but for many others searching for spiritual integrity."
Damian McElrath, Ph.D., Hazelden Foundation

"Fills in what is missing in alcoholism literature... Strikes a chord in every counselor and family member who strives to help a patient or loved one... All of us in the field of alcoholism and drug addiction will be grateful for... the light Dr. Goodson has shed on the role of the therapist in treatment."
Maxwell N. Weisman, M.D., Directory, Maryland State Alcoholism Control Administration (ret.); Psychiatry Department, Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland

"Simple, straightforward and courageous."
The Rt. Reverend Furman C. Stough, VIII Bishop of Alabama

"A fascinating account of the journey of the two souls seeking the deeper meaning of life. The Twelve Steps led Bill and Dale to true healing... I recommend it particularly to our colleagues who seek healing in their own lives."
Anderson Spickard, M.D., Medical Director, Vanderbilt Institute for Treatment of Addictionl Author, DYING FOR A DRINK

"Needs to be read by all health care professionals - especially physicians and psychiatrists."
Max A. Schneider, M.D., CADC, Board of Directors, National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence

"The very best book dealing with the Twelve Steps I have read... Especially helpful in ways the nonalcoholic can assimilate the Steps into everyday living... A book of hope, superbly written, revealing redemptive insights."
Frank A. Butler, CEO (ret.); President, Ministry of Money; Faith at Work Board Member
